Day 139 | May Mail Call

Prompt: Send mail to each other with items that can be used in our journals.

Annetta | This mail day I am sending out items that cannot be used in a journal, but can we used in an office for decoration. Sometimes its nice to get gifts that you can use for your home or office. I hope that Stephanie enjoys what I'm sending her because if not, I really want to keep them!

Stephanie | I find it amusing that Annetta and I are on the same page with this one. I didn't have anything I felt worthy of sending to her to use in the journal so I too packaged something for her workspace. I know that she is re-doing her office space so this is something she can use as decoration.

Day 138 | Free To Everyone

Prompt: What things in life do you think should be free and available to everyone?

Annetta | Since owning my own garden & growing my own food I feel like food should be available for everyone or the right to grow their own food without it costing a fortune. I know that that's not the case, but it breaks my heart to know I can eat, grow my own garden while others are left to starve. We have plenty of food that goes to waste in America and plenty of people who could really use some.

Stephanie | I originally wanted to say that I think everyone should have free access to natural forms of healing, like massage and acupuncture. But then I got to thinking about how many people work in that field and rely on their jobs so having that as a free service would not be the right call to make. So I would rather see natural healing methods be more accessible and covered through insurance. Health is important and it bothers me when I see doctors and insurance companies treat symptoms rather that finding cures for ailments and they do so by prescribing pills that have numerous side effects. I wish these alternative methods were utilized first before issuing drugs.

Day 137 | First Job

Prompt: Tell me about your first job. What did you do? How much were you paid? Who did you work with? What were they like? Did you have to wear a uniform?

If you haven't had a job yet write about a list of 'first jobs' you would like and why.

Stephanie | My first job was right out of High School working as a sales associate for The Bon Marche. I worked there for 1 and a half years. I started out rotating through the different departments and random schedules before I landed a permanent spot in the juniors section. I worked register, putting items back, the fitting room, and with loss prevention. I made friends with all my co-workers and we had a great time working together. I was there during the strike and transitioning from The Bon to Macy's and after I left this location, I worked at a Macy's in Arizona for a bit.

Annetta | The first paid job that I had was being a babysitter. I was a good one in my opinion. I cleaned up the messes the kids and I created, played with the kids and stuck to the parents rules. People hired me and I made some good money for a while. Being a babysitter was no big deal back then, I knew I could trust myself to watch and love the kids, but now that I'm the mother hiring a babysitter, it tough!

Day 135 | Another Language

Prompt: What other language(s) would you like to learn and why? Introduce yourself to your journal in your new language. Action: This week take one step towards learning your language of choice.

Stephanie | I would like to brush up on my Spanish. I took 2 years of it in High School, but I don't remember much of it now. I eventually would like to live in Mexico, so knowing the language would be very beneficial. Hola, me llamo Stephanie!

Annetta | I was born in Estonia and therefore have spoken Russian since I was little. I now think and speak 90% in English, but still speak and ever so slightly read in Russian. I have a heavily English accent when I speak Russian and that's just funny to me, well to everyone else as I keep them rolling on the floor for hours with my Russian. On top of English and Russian I am in the process of leaning Slovak, my husbands native language. Ahoj means hello. We will be spending 3 weeks in Slovakia this summer. I need to start pulling out my Slovak books to learn the language.

Day 134 | Compliment

Prompt: List some of the compliments you can remember receiving, big and small.

Stephanie | Some of the best compliments I have received are when someone loves my work. I am so critical about my work so its nice when others love it. I like hearing that I inspire others, knowing that people are working on their dreams and projects because something I did inspired them to do so. I think the best compliment I could ever receive is from my babies, saying "I love you" and calling me "the best mommy ever".

Annetta | The highest compliment I can receive is from my husband. He knows me better than any person, the good, bad and the ugly. When I get a compliment from him I really treasure them. He often tells me that he is very proud of me for some of the things I've done. It's so good to hear as I also hear the things I need to improve on often. A recent compliment he has given me was saying he was proud of my for not giving up on a certain project even though I really wanted to, he was proud that I stuck to my commitment and will see it through. I am so thankful for those compliments I receive from him!

Day 133 | What's On Your Mind

Prompt: What's on your mind?

Annetta | Work! Work is always on my mind. At the moment I am a little annoyed and stressed out about it. I took the afternoon off to be with a friend and enjoy a playdate, but now that that's over I am sitting here grabbing onto my head wondering when all my work will get done. It is NEVER ending and I am complaining about it right now. I just want a day where I can do what I used to be able to do 6 months ago. I guess I need to let my expectations of last year go and enjoy the work filled season I am in today with a constant 5+ things on my to-do list and that JUST work related stuff, forget the cleaning, cooking and being mom. This has been on my mind for a few weeks now.

Stephanie |  My mind is a giant to-do list. I have so many different tasks and projects floating around. There are some big changes coming up in our house that I need to prepare for but at the same time I want to be out enjoying the amazing weather we have been having and catch up with friends. I'm torn between all the work I need to do and wanting to go and play and not miss out on all the things happening outside of my office.
