Day 341 | Cabin

Prompt: Where would you have your cabin at, lake, beach, woods?

Annetta | I would have my cabin be my a lake, that's in the mountains surrounded by woods. It would be a remote location where in the winter there would be snow and ice skating on the lake. During the summer we could explore the woods and go for a swim. It would be a place that's surrounded by beauty and the perfect place where a photographer can really enjoy capturing that beauty.

Stephanie | I want my cabin to be tucked in the woods on a mountain surrounded by tall trees overlooking a beautiful lake. A great lake where my hubby can fish and my girls can swim. The property would be full of trees and flowers and decorated with a natural and rustic interior. Cozy, warm and inviting, a perfect place to get away.

Day 340 | Quiet Time Place

Prompt: Where is your favorite place to have quiet time?

Annetta | My bed in the morning where I do my prayers and then when no ones is around, the couch. I LOVE those two spots. For me, the couch is so cozy, soft and very comfortable. It also have a great view as I stitch, read or even watch movies. It's kinda like my retreat space.

Stephanie | I don't have a quiet space as I always have a little one with me, but when I need to have a break I usually retreat to my bed. Its not quiet but at least I can close the door for a few minuets and take a breath. Lately I have gotten into taking a bath at night before bed with soft music, candles and smelly bath salts I made. But I would consider my time waiting in the car or on the office couch at my daughters school my favorite quite time/place I have currently. I actually look forward to this time. While my surroundings are still busy and sometimes noisy, its time I get for myself to read and stitch while my little one plays games on my phone.

Day 339 | Performed

Prompt: Share a time when you performed in front of an audience.

Annetta | I'm not much of a singer, dancer or actress. My performances are rare, few and far in-between. I have taught a class on Instagram before to more then 50 ladies. I wouldn't call that a 'performance', but I did have an audience. It was a little nerve wracking, but rewarding.

Stephanie |  I am not a performer, I like to watch others, its out of my comfort zone to have the spot light on me, I avoid it at all costs. However, I think there is a performer in me somewhere, deep down. Deep, deep, deep down. But she stays hidden. But I have performed a few time, in my younger days. When I was in elementary school I performed in the choir and bell choir performances, and in 5th grade I performed a skit in the talent show. In middle school, my grandma put on a production called 'Wannabe Theater', which was basically a talent show for adults, one year I got brave enough to sing with a friend during the show. In High School I performed with my choir at our concerts and when we went to competitions. And I also participated in Solo/Ensemble which is a competitive event, but was requited to letter in choir (the only thing I lettered in in High School).

Day 338 | Yesterday

Prompt: Yesterday I ....

Stephanie | Yesterday I... drank lots of coffee but was still sleepy all day. Worked on school lessons with my daughter, and completed my journal. Made shopping/ Christmas-y plans with Annetta. Got creative with dinner making a hodge-podge of scraps since I didn't want to go shopping. And cleaned, sorted, and organized my bedroom and closet.

Annetta | Yesterday I... brought my son lunch to his preschool(daddy forgot it at home) and then went to the Flower Market to get some pretty blooms for a collaboration. When we got home I made a yummy lunch and took a nap. Then a miracle happened, I showered (I don't like getting wet)! I stitched a Christmas piece for the collaboration while watching CreativeLive. In the evening I met up with a photography friend and we went out for sushi, enjoying a good conversation. It was a great day!

Day 337 | After Vacation

Prompt: How does it feel to come home after a long vacation?

Stephanie |  I like coming home after a vacation. While gone everyone gets off schedule and are busy doing fun things. As much fun as it is to be away, I like coming home and getting back to normal. I usually come home exhausted from the trip and need a day to rest and regroup. I also need to have my house clean before I leave on any trip, I hate coming home and needing to clean a dirty house, just adds to the stress and exhaustion. After coming home, there is all the laundry to do, so its nice to have everything else clean and a day to wash and put away everything and 'come down' from the trip.

Annetta | When I come home I feel warm and safe. It's a feeling of peace even if I may have just drove 20 hours from LA and am just so exhausted. There is also a different feeling I get from when I am out-of-town with my husband to the feeling when I am out-of-the-country with my whole family. I can feel some of those emotions as I type, but I can't quite put them into words.

Day 336 | Pick A Poem

Prompt: Pick a poem.

Stephanie | I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings - Maya Angelou

The free bird leaps
on the back of the wind
and floats downstream
till the current ends
and dips his wings
in the orange sun rays
and dares to claim the sky.

But a bird that stalks
down his narrow cage
can seldom see through
his bars of rage
his wings are clipped and
his feet are tied
so he opens his throat to sing.

The caged bird sings
with fearful trill
of the things unknown
but longed for still
and his tune is heard
on the distant hill
for the caged bird
sings of freedom

The free bird thinks of another breeze
and the trade winds soft through the sighing trees
and the fat worms waiting on a dawn-bright lawn
and he names the sky his own.

But a caged bird stands on the grave of dreams
his shadow shouts on a nightmare scream
his wings are clipped and his feet are tied
so he opens his throat to sing

The caged bird sings
with a fearful trill
of things unknown
but longed for still
and his tune is heard
on the distant hill
for the caged bird
sings of freedom.

Annetta | DESIGN IN LIVING COLORS - Adrienne Rich

Embroidered in a tapestry of green
Among the textures of a threaded garden,
The gesturing lady and her paladin
Walk in a path where shade and sunlight harden
Upon the formal attitudes of trees
By no wind bent, and birds without a tune,
Against the background of a figured frieze
In an enteral summer afternoon.

So you and I in our accepted frame
Believe a casual world of bricks and flowers
And scarcely guess what symbols wander tame
Among the panels of familiar hours.
Yet should the parting boughs of green reveal
A slender unicorn with jeweled feet,
Could I persuade him at my touch to kneel

And from my fingers take what unicorns eat?

Day 335 | Wish List

Prompt: What is on your Christmas wish list?

Annetta | This year, I don't have much on my wish list as I got everything I needed already. What is on my list are making memories. So this year my husband is giving a family present to himself, myself and my mom. We are taking a few days to head to a spa somewhere in Oregon to rest, relax and just enjoy each other. Lately I'm very much into spending time/experiencing with family and friends verse stuff and getting more things.

Stephanie |  I usually don't have a holiday wish list, but I have items I wish to get for myself, those items include a new watercolor set for next years project, a new calligraphy pen with paper and colored ink, more cross stitch supplies of thread and cloth and a transfer pen, and I really want the Surface Pro 3.
